They began by importing fire extinguishers, but due to their rapid success, they swiftly transitioned to producing locally, rigorously according to the Bureau of Product Standards. But it’s not just about putting out flames; it’s also about preventing them. Palmer-Asia began designing and implementing cutting-edge fire suppression and detection systems in 1995. Andy’s eyes widened as he described how these systems were more than just new products, but signified a significant step forward for both the company and the industry.
Andy’s mention of Typhoon Ondoy was a moving moment in our conversation. It was a calamity that claimed lives and highlighted the critical need for adequate warning systems. Palmer-Asia’s reaction? Creating a Security Systems Department to prevent future catastrophes.
Andy’s concern about safety goes beyond the coastline. The Marine Safety Division, he explained, is a monument to their commitment to protecting lives at sea by providing vital life-saving and fire-fighting equipment to the numerous vessels that navigate our 7,100 islands.
Andy’s emphasis on the human side stood out to me the most. He’s proud, but not complacent, with a 350-strong team powering Palmer-Asia. There is a continuing push for improvement, whether through global alliances or exclusive distributorships bringing the finest of fire safety to Asia.
In a nutshell, Andy is not just operating a business; he is also leading a movement. One in which safety is not an afterthought, but rather the foundation of every innovation. As we finished, I understood that Andy Palmiery isn’t only putting out fires in the field of fire and safety; he’s also lighting the path forward.
