Auto & Tech | Suzuki Philippines and DES Strong Motors Lead Coastal Cleanup in Panglao for ICC 2025
Panglao, Bohol – Suzuki Philippines Incorporated (SPH), together with its Marine, Automobile, and Motorcycle divisions, joined hands with DES Strong Motors Corporation in the International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) 2025 in Panglao, Bohol. This annual global movement underscores Suzuki’s strong advocacy for environmental stewardship, sustainability, and meaningful community engagement in the Philippines.
This year’s ICC, organized by The Bellevue Resort, gathered over 1,200 volunteers from schools, community groups, local government units, and partner companies with a shared mission: to protect and preserve the country’s marine and coastal ecosystems. The event’s strong youth participation highlighted the growing awareness of the urgent need for collective action against marine pollution.
Representing Suzuki Philippines were Mr. Yukio Sato, General Manager for After-Sales Service and Marine Division, and Mr. Norihide Takei, Director and General Manager for the Automobile Division. They worked alongside employees of DES Strong Motors in a three-pronged cleanup operation:
- Doljo Beach Team: conducted a 2-kilometer shoreline cleanup.
- Underwater Team: removed marine debris to protect coral reefs and aquatic life.
- Segregation and Audit Team: in partnership with Plastic Free Bohol, ensured proper waste sorting and documentation.
The joint efforts successfully recovered 194 sacks of non-biodegradable waste weighing 954.38 kilograms, consisting of plastics, glass, metal, and hazardous materials, with proper disposal supported by LGU Panglao.
“Through initiatives like the International Coastal Cleanup, Suzuki reaffirms its role not just as a mobility partner, but as a committed advocate for sustainability and community empowerment,” said Mr. Yukio Sato of Suzuki Philippines.
“This collaboration with DES Strong Motors shows how businesses and communities can work hand-in-hand to safeguard our natural resources for future generations,” added Mr. Norihide Takei.
Beyond the cleanup, participants shared stories, engaged in fun educational activities, and received Suzuki merchandise as tokens of appreciation. The event reinforced Suzuki’s long-standing promise of being “By Your Side”—not only on the road and at sea, but also in environmental protection and community service.
With DES Strong Motors Corporation and other like-minded partners, Suzuki Philippines continues to drive initiatives that go beyond mobility—delivering progress while fostering a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future.
